From the Editor's Desk
Mr. Piston
An archive earns its right to exist the day it can prove something a magazine never could: that separate objects, however distant, are genuinely connected, not merely compared.
This first issue opens on an argument, not a single machine. Between 1987 and 2005, four manufacturers in four countries built a car with nothing between the driver's decision and the machine's response, each one reaching that idea without ever coordinating with the others. The Ferrari F40 opened the window. This is where the record begins, not where it ends.
