Built to carry a Ferrari Dino-derived V6 in a compact, wedge-shaped body engineered around cornering agility rather than road-going comfort, the Stratos HF opened a new era in motorsport: purpose-built rally homologation specials, a category the Lancia 037 and Delta S4 later continued and the Group B era eventually made famous. Its road-going Stradale version exists because FIA Group 4 rules required a minimum production run, not because Lancia set out to build a grand tourer.
