Launched at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show, the F50 was Ferrari's first new halo car developed after Enzo Ferrari's death in 1988, and the company built it to answer a specific, difficult brief: put a genuine Formula 1 engine, chassis philosophy, and driving position into a road car with no compromise. The result was less an evolution of the F40 than a different argument entirely, built from race-car engineering rather than road-car engineering pushed to its limits.
